HACC Innovative Solutions Manual

Proven Ideas for Addressing Common Community Care Sector Issues

First Published in February 2005; 2nd edition April 2006

About the Innovative Solutions Manual

Until now there have been few mechanisms to exchange information about innovative practice in community care across areas and regions. In 2004, the NSW HACC DOs Network took the initiative and decided to produce the HACC Innovative Solutions Manual. This manual aims to ensure that the lessons learnt from creatively addressing common sector issues and problems in one area are passed on to other areas. In other words, the manual should reduce the need to re-invent the wheel.

The manual consists of a series of Ideas Sheets and corresponding Resources, each showcasing an innovative solution to a common community care sector issue.

Each Ideas Sheet gives:

  • the contact for the HACC Development Project through which further information is available
  • a statement of the key issue and some information about its history
  • an overview of how the issue was addressed including important ingredients in the process
  • the outcomes of the innovative approach
  • key documents relating to the innovation solution (Resources)

Service providers in the community care sector are encouraged to play their part in spreading information about innovative practice. This manual is a living document which will grow over time. If you are aware of a common sector issue that has been creatively and effectively addressed, contact your local HACC Development Officer and suggest that it be considered for inclusion in the HACC Innovative Solutions Manual.
